Trust, an Unknown Word to Luke Dantry

After Luke emerged from the cold and muddy river he found a house which seemed to be a vacation house where no one was home. Luke knew he was breaking and entering but he thought well maybe that's what his life is like now. How found some tools to take his chains off so he was free. He looked through the house found a shower and took a long one cleaning the mud off of him. Later he took some clothes from the closet and started eating some of the food he found. all of the sudden he heard footsteps at the front door. He thought for sure it couldn't have been Mouser and Snow, he thought it was either the local police or a neighbor. Then he heard the footsteps go around the house, he picked up a knife and a soup can. a man opened the door, it was Mouser. How did mouser find him? he must have been rolling down the river for ten minutes. Luke put the knife up his shirt sleeve, Mouser entered, found Luke and had the gun pointed straight at his face. He said he wanted to have a "little talk." He started to ask Luke about the man who kidnapped him. Luke tried to not speak and let Mouser speak because then he might get some answers as to what is going on. Mouser told Luke to trust him, and that he wouldn't shoot Luke, yet he was pointing the gun straight at his face. Luke also thought that if he gave Mouser all the information he knew, he wouldn't be of use to mouser anymore and Mouser would shoot him. Luke thought about that phrase "Trust me" those words no longer mean anything to him, he didn't trust anyone, not Henry, Eric, nor Mouser. Luke pulled out the knife from his sleeve and stabbed the back of Mousers leg, Luke then escaped from the house.

Has this ever happened to you? When someone overuses a phrase to a point where it looses its value? Phases like "Trust me"?

The Escape

Luke was in the room on the metal bed until the following day, he managed to escape by pulling the chains off from under the metal bed. But yet, Luke was still being detained by chains, but loose chains. Luke made his way to the front door, he heard footsteps and a man and a woman discussing bombs and bombing areas around the globe. Luke, startled, runs out the back door into the bushes as the people enter the house. But he stopped, because he remembered that when Eric Dropped him at the house he found the keys in front of the door. Maybe Eric left
the keys to the chains right back down there? So he turned around and went for the keys. When he got to the door, the keys were not there, and the woman who walked into the house walked out pointing a gun at him. Luke throws his chain and wrestles her until he has her in a choke hold with the chains. The man with her came out and told her to let her go. Luke didn't, so instead the man explained to Luke that they were sent to rescue him by Henry. Who knew? maybe they were, but Luke sure as ever new that if they were sent to save him the woman, who then introduced herself as Snow, would not have been raising the gun at him. So Luke told the man, who said his name was Mouser, to toss his gun and give Luke his car keys. Snow told the man to do it, as Luke backed up to get to their car, holding Snow with the chains. In an instant Snow attacked Luke and they wrestled. When she called Mouser, Luke remembered he had the gun, so he smashed it into her face before he lost hold of it and ran off into the woods. Next thing he knows he finds a road and roads lead to town, so he followed it. He came across a trucker and held on the the back of the truck for about 10 minutes before he saw a headlight coming full speed from the back. It was Snow and Mouser, they honked at the trucked for him to stop, but he ignored it, so Snow shot him. The truck made it's way to the woods where the bumps made Luke fly off and roll down the hill into a river.

Luke's like has completely changed in the past day, dropping Henry at the airport must have been a lifetime ago to him. Luke seemed to have acted very bravely, what do you think you would do if you were trapped in a cabin in the woods? How would you escape?

Surprises

This novel has just started to get very interesting and addictive. In my last blog I mentioned Luke being kidnapped. The kidnapper was just an armature  and he was just fulfilling a bargain. His name was Eric, and he worked in a bank. It turns out that the fifty million dollars was transferred to him to hide in multiple different accounts. Someone found this out, and found out who he was, so they kidnapped his girlfriend and told him that they would trade her for Luke. But why Luke?  Luke was just an ordinary man, didn't have many friends, was an orphan. The only family Luke had was his step father Henry. The book later on reveals that the man who was given the fifty million was Henry, and he lead a terrorist organization known as the Night Road. Furthermore, the person who gave him the money was the Prince of England. But back to Luke, after being kidnapped Eric arrived at a house where a woman, on the phone with him, told him his girlfriend was. They entered the house and found her in a room on a metal bed, Eric let her out and as promised left Luke on the bed while being detained by chains. Luke overheard Eric using a voice modifier on the phone with Henry saying that the only way he could get Luke back is by giving them the fifty million dollars.  Luke was completely baffled, how would Henry get fifty million? he was clueless. Despite his terrorism, it seems Henry had a heart for Luke, he promised Luke's mother that he would take care of him before she died.

The chapters after Luke's kidnapping led to even more action and surprises, what would you say surprised you the most? and why is that?

Risking Your Life

For the past week I've been reading the book Trust Me by Jeff Abbott.
Although I have only made it to the third chapter, it seemed very intreaguing from the first page. It starts off with some sort of deal occuring at a local park. A man who is sitting at a park bench is feeding pigions, he is some sort of millionare who is plotting a terrorist attack. He pays a man 50 million to cause complete destruction.

In chapter two we discover the main character Luke from Austin, Texas. He is in his twenties, is an orphan and he has recently been working on some reasearch for his step father Henry. The reasearch was to try to look for the future terrorists, Henry decided to make a fake blog on how he "wanted to make people pay" and reasearch the people who commented on it, there were 6,000 commenters. For the people who agreed with he fake blog, Luke attempted to determine weather or not these were just thoughts or people willing to do violent things to the world. Henry came to pick up the reasearch, he offered Luke a job to work with him, Luke agreed. Then Luke dropped him off at the airport, on his way back he was stuck up, a man came behind him and placed a gun on his back. This man new everything about Luke, he asked Luke to get in the car and drive with him or he would kill a family that was driving by in a minivan. Luke agreed and got in the car. this was where I finished reading.

What would you do if you were someone who had information about 6,000 violent possibly terrorists, would you get in your car with that man who knew your name and everything about you?

Myself, I think it would be wiser to wait for the family in the minivan to pass by, when they are gone I would try to take the gun from him. After all, he can only get the information through me. If he had that information he could do much more damage to a numerous amount of people. Better to sacrafice your life, one life, rather than risk the lives of cities.
